Hi! I'm Katrina.
I am a user experience architect, visual designer, and artist living in beautiful, weird and funky, Austin, TX. I am a late in life, self-taught artist and it took me about 40 years to accept my fate and yell it out loud — “I”M AN ARTIST!” I really just can’t stop creating, designing, coloring, painting, drawing, and rearranging the furniture. My hubby thinks I have commitment issues because I like to rearrange the furniture every few weeks. I really don’t have commitment issues, I’m a Scorpio and therefore very loyal, but intense. And geeky, goofy, funny and smart.
My day job is a Principal User Experience Architect at TandemSeven making the web and mobile intuitive and beautiful. So, I admit, I did go to school for design. I have a degree in Human Computer Interaction. It is the perfect combination of technology, psychology and design. I have a passion for designing apps that make people smile and come back for more, as well as making your business successful!
Please shoot me an email if you would like to talk shop!
In my spare time, which isn’t much these days with 2 young children running around, I create art, design surface patterns, paint, refinish furniture, do crafts, sew, take photographs with instagram and my Nikon, and decorate my home. I also love yoga, have a love/hate relationship with running and enjoy playing in the back yard with my kids watching my hubby putz around in the garden.
I am a big music fan and my art is inspired by music. I am a big fan of alternative and indie rock, as well as some electronic and dance music. Right now I am listening to the Chainsmokers, Night Riots, Day Wave, Flagship, and the XX. I saw The Cure at Austin City Limits festival a few years ago and it was spectacular, they were my first alternative music love.
I am an avid reader, and have recently picked it up again (after taking some time off being wrapped up in being a full time working mom of 2) I am currently reading "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle.
My latest addiction is shopping at the awesome thrift stores in Austin for some sweet finds to decorate my home. Most days you will find me spray painting some new find, designing a new surface pattern for a Spoonflower contest, or making something for a friend. It’s great to meet you and thanks for visiting!
